Hi, everyone.\u00a0 We hope you had a great week-end.\u00a0 Jordan spent the week-end camping and kayaking in the Adirondacks, and I nursed Mr. Right who had some knee repair work done.\u00a0 I have something on my mind today, and I am wondering if I am the only person out there with this situation.\u00a0 First, I truly realize this is a first-world problem, and I am lucky to have it, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.<\/h3>\n

I can sum it up in ones word:\u00a0 Wires<\/h3>\n

We have one of those ugly television boxes, and unfortunately, it has to sit on our mantel.\u00a0 I got the bright idea to move it to the table next to the mantel and disguise the wires.\u00a0 It was impossible. \u00a0These aren’t the television’s electrical wires. \u00a0Noooooo. \u00a0We had them installed behind the television when we remodeled. \u00a0These wires all belong to the cable box.<\/h3>\n

All of these wires were stuffed behind the television.\u00a0 They are too long to be there, but yet too short to reach the box on the table.\u00a0 And do we need so many of them?\u00a0 Really?\u00a0 I ordered one of those little devices that is the size of an Atomic Fireball to take the place of the wires.\u00a0 It was supposed to stick incognito to the bottom of the television and read the commands from the remote.\u00a0 Meanwhile, the box could be hidden someplace else.\u00a0 It didn’t work.<\/h3>\n

We use Insight (shame on you, Insight), but I saw a commercial from another company (Direct TV) saying we could receive cable without a box.\u00a0 I called them.\u00a0 There’s a box.\u00a0 Isn’t that false advertising????\u00a0 It isn’t even a little box.\u00a0 It’s a large as the one we already have yet they say no box.\u00a0 Is anyone out there feeling my pain?\u00a0 Can I get a collective, “Amen?”<\/h3>\n

Until some genius (I’m thinking a woman) out there comes up with a better solution or until someone tells me a secret about where to hide these boxes so they will still work, every photo you will see of our great room will have the box sitting on the mantel with a few random wires that got away.\u00a0 I did love what Amanda at Dixie Delights<\/a> did in her bedroom.\u00a0 Her husband built a cabinet around the television with custom art attached to the top.\u00a0 He built a place in it to hide the box.\u00a0 I pinned it.\u00a0 My friend Beth, The Lone Rearranger<\/a>, told me I need to go ahead and decorate around the box.\u00a0 Sigh<\/em>…..I guess she’s right.<\/h3>\n
