York City, and I knew I had to plant one for myself.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Simply put, a Shakespeare Garden is one planted with herbs, flowers, and plants that Shakespeare mentions in his plays, and sonnets. \u00a0This book,\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Shakespeare&#8217;s Flora and Fauna<\/span> (available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Shakespeares-Flora-Fauna-Trafalgar-Square\/dp\/1862052883\/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1367938248&amp;sr=8-1-fkmr2&amp;keywords=shakespeare%27s+floral+and+fauna\">here<\/a>) makes it easy. \u00a0Page after page it will list a plant, show an excerpt that mentions the plant, and then name the work it comes from.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/IMG_5350.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-17889\" alt=\"IMG_5350\" 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Since we live in a townhouse with a courtyard, my garden space is limited. \u00a0So, I only selected four quotes. \u00a0If you have the space and time, you could plant a huge Shakespeare Garden with numerous plants. \u00a0The book lists 35 plants. \u00a0The first thing I did was select the quotes that applied to flowers\/plants\/herbs that we have, and I typed them up. \u00a0Then I tore them roughly, and dipped them in strong tea to give the paper an aged look.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/IMG_5352.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-17892\" alt=\"IMG_5352\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/IMG_5352-1024x681.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Meanwhile, I purchased little wooden plaques and wooden dowels at Michael&#8217;s.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/IMG_5353.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-17893\" alt=\"IMG_5353\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/IMG_5353-1024x681.jpg\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" hand. \u00a0I selected brown so it would blend in with the background, but you could use any color you like. \u00a0I then hot-glued the dowels to the back of the plaques.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/IMG_53561.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">After everything had dried the next step was to apply the quotes to the plaques with ModPodge. \u00a0I only used one coat and then added several layers of water-proof polyurethane. \u00a0Afterall, these babies will be out in all kinds of weather, and they need to be sealed well.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/IMG_5389.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" look I was going for. \u00a0They are splotchy and wrinkled and perfect for me. \u00a0Before we down-sized, I had a much bigger Shakespeare Garden in our last house. \u00a0However, I am making do with what I have to work with here and love the little touch that the quotes add to my courtyard plantings.<\/h3>\n<h3><a
