When I lived in Hawaii, I got my certification to scuba dive. \u00a0Mr. Spring was a big diver, so it was something we enjoyed doing together. \u00a0Nothing is more peaceful then being underwater away from everything and swimming with the fish. \u00a0I did get spoiled because the diving in Hawaii was great and simple. \u00a0We could leave work, rent some air tanks, and be underwater in no time at all.<\/h3>\n

This is one of the pictures we took while diving. Now that I live in the Northeast, I wanted to bring a little ocean to our house. \u00a0I have been seeing coral everywhere in Blogland and on Pinterest, and I thought that it would be the perfect little thing to add for a summer touch. \u00a0I decided instead of buying one that was painted and ready, I would save a little money by painting some coral.<\/h3>\n

I picked up this piece of coral at the pet store for under five dollars. \u00a0Pet stores sell coral for aquariums, and their prices are lower than at craft stores.<\/h3>\n

It was sunny outside today, and since I had some white spray paint on hand, I went to town. \u00a0I put the coral on a piece of cement block to help make it easier to paint.<\/h3>\n

Unfortunately, when I was finished with the spray painting, the coral was permanently attached to the block. \u00a0I guess I went a little crazy with the white, and the two stuck together. \u00a0I have tried multiple things to get it unstuck, but \u00a0then I decided I actually like the block. \u00a0I decided to spray it as well. So, now we have a little piece of the Hawaii vibe in our house. \u00a0I need to rearrange a dresser top to make a home for the coral. \u00a0Now it just sits on the sofa table in our living room.<\/h3>\n

Not bad for a quick makeover for under $5.<\/h3>\n
