{"id":17215,"date":"2013-04-11T16:48:53","date_gmt":"2013-04-11T21:48:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=17215"},"modified":"2013-04-25T10:45:00","modified_gmt":"2013-04-25T15:45:00","slug":"the-new-york-sour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=17215","title":{"rendered":"The New York Sour"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">One of my recent <em>Bon Appetit <\/em>magazines had an article featuring new twists on standard cocktails. \u00a0One of them caught my eye, and I saved it back so I could fix it for Jordan, Anna (her college roommate) and me recently. \u00a0We knew the guys would prefer a beer, so we didn&#8217;t worry about them.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/04\/11\/the-new-york-sour\/img_4987\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-17216\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17216\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_4987-681x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"409\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_4987-681x1024.jpg 681w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_4987-215x323.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><!--more--><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">According to the magazine, this wine-spiked whiskey sour is the &#8220;comeback cocktail of the year&#8221;. \u00a0We gals really enjoyed it and hope you do, too.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><em>THE NEW YORK SOUR<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">2 ounces rye or bourbon (we used Kentucky bourbon)<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1 ounce simple syrup (Make in advance using 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar and bring to a boil. \u00a0Then chill till needed)<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2013\/04\/11\/the-new-york-sour\/img_4990\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-17224\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-17224\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_4990-681x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"409\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_4990-681x1024.jpg 681w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_4990-215x323.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Combine these ingredients in a shaker filled with ice and shake for 30 seconds. \u00a0Strain into an ice-filled glass. \u00a0Gently pour 1\/2 ounce fruity red wine (Shiraz or Malbec) over the back of a spoon held just above the drink&#8217;s surface so the wine will float on top.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">To save time, I combined the ingredients that afternoon and stored them in the frig till cocktail hour. \u00a0Then I added them to the shaker and proceeded.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Take care and have a great week-end.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of my recent Bon Appetit magazines had an article featuring new twists on standard cocktails. \u00a0One of them caught my eye, and I saved it back so I could fix it for Jordan, Anna (her college roommate) and me recently. \u00a0We knew the guys would prefer a beer, so we didn&#8217;t worry about them.
