As you know, I have been taking oil painting classes for a little over a year. \u00a0You can see some of my creations here<\/a>, here<\/a>, and here<\/a>. \u00a0Lucky for me, my art teacher is also my neighbor. \u00a0She stopped in recently to pick up a book, and \u00a0I showed her the new furniture arrangement that I did in our foyer and asked her advice on art work for the area. \u00a0We picked a temporary solution, but she decided I could paint a still life for the space.<\/h3>\n

She looked around at my things and started creating table top arrangements with items she felt would make a good painting. \u00a0This one wouldn’t work because there is a glare on the plate.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

Just \u00a0by moving slightly, I eliminated the glare. \u00a0Come along and see the possibilities we came up with.<\/h3>\n

We even used the floor. \u00a0There is too much space between the elements here. \u00a0And let me just say that our floors are stained brown (provincial exactly), and I don’t know why they look yellow in every photo I take of them.<\/h3>\n

Things were moved slightly.<\/h3>\n

The floor just wasn’t doing it for us, so we moved back to the marble countertop.<\/h3>\n

The cloth is too \u00a0flat here.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We tried lots of angles.<\/h3>\n

We liked this one.<\/h3>\n

Then we decided to switch teapots, but I didn’t get it in focus.<\/h3>\n

We liked the way the one little packet of sugar repeated the green color. \u00a0She said it didn’t matter that the silver is tarnished.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

After just three shots with the green teapot, we moved on.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We tried another blue teapot. \u00a0We felt the deep blue color was better than either the green or powder blue.<\/h3>\n

I love how changing the angle every so slightly makes a big difference.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now I am behind the teapot.<\/h3>\n

Okay, after taking over 50 photos, we have narrowed it down to two. \u00a0This one and …..<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

…..this one. \u00a0Which one should I paint? \u00a0Let me know your favorite. \u00a0I need some help.<\/h3>\n
