{"id":1588,"date":"2011-05-02T06:44:52","date_gmt":"2011-05-02T11:44:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=1588"},"modified":"2011-05-02T06:44:53","modified_gmt":"2011-05-02T11:44:53","slug":"paint-colors-for-our-new-place-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/?p=1588","title":{"rendered":"Paint Colors for Our New Place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Author: \u00a0Autumn<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Jordan will be traveling for business the next few weeks and will blog when she can, so meanwhile, you&#8217;ll be mostly reading my posts. \u00a0But with our upcoming move, I have lots to write about. \u00a0For instance:<\/h3>\n<h3>Paint can make such a statement. \u00a0It can make a room or ruin a room. \u00a0It is such a personal thing. \u00a0A color that one person loves might nauseate someone else.<\/h3>\n<h3>I probably spent a hundred dollars on paint samples, and it drove me batty. \u00a0Even after making selections with my decorating friend&#8217;s assistance, the choices were still a challenge. \u00a0When there is no furniture in a room to take your attention away from just the color, it seems to play a bigger role. \u00a0I had samples mixed, then returned to the store to have the pigments decreased because I became insecure. \u00a0I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ll use the paint samples in the future. \u00a0My easiest selection was when I bypassed the samples and just picked a color based on a color card.<\/h3>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-1568\" href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2011\/04\/28\/paint-colors-for-our-new-place\/dscf1516\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/DSCF1516-430x323.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"430\" height=\"323\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>These are the paint samples that made my selections harder.<\/h3>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-1569\" href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2011\/04\/28\/paint-colors-for-our-new-place\/dscf1518\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/DSCF1518-430x323.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"430\" height=\"323\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>When selecting the colors for our new place, I wanted to make sure the rooms would flow smoothly together and feel like one cohesive unit. \u00a0I only went against my rule with the guest room, and I&#8217;ll explain that later.<\/h3>\n<h3>I wanted a serene neutral background and decided to go with the taupe family teamed with soft blues. \u00a0I realize that gray is all the rage now, but it will be used on the kitchen island as an accent.<\/h3>\n<h3>So, for the upstairs foyer, the master bedroom, and Mr. Autumn&#8217;s first floor office, I selected Buckram Binding, by Sherwin Williams. \u00a0We used SW for all of our paints.<\/h3>\n<h3><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sherwin-williams.com\/images\/snippets\/swatches\/SW0036.gif\" alt=\"SW0036 Buckram Binding\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3>For the master bath, office bath and kitchen ceiling, I chose Iceberg by SW. \u00a0It is the softest shade of blue I could find. \u00a0I wrote a blog a few weeks ago about painted ceilings and how I am not a fan, but this shade on our kitchen ceiling is perfection. \u00a0It blends perfectly with the tile flooring in the kitchen&#8217;s adjoining solarium.<\/h3>\n<h3><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/img4.realsimple.com\/images\/tv\/episode-102\/102-gal-iceberg_300.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Sherwin-Williams Iceberg\" width=\"300\" height=\"357\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3>The guest room will be Melted Butter, which is a color by Behr. \u00a0Sherwin Williams matched it for us. \u00a0The guest room gets the morning sun, and this color is really lively in that light. \u00a0But as the day wears on, the color softens. \u00a0We used the same color in the guest bath. \u00a0I deviated from the blues\/taupes here because we had this color in the guest room of our previous house, and I loved it. \u00a0Our guests will mostly be young families, and I want a youthful room for them that they can relate to.<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/catalog\/productImages\/400\/fa\/fab6439f-b67d-486f-b158-daa283a1b3e7_400.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"8 oz.
