I love entertaining in the winter. \u00a0There is such a comfy feeling when enjoying some nice wine and comfort foods with friends while the fire is blazing and the snow is falling outside.<\/h3>\n

I mentioned earlier this month that I love decorating with blues and white after the holidays. \u00a0The cool colors and cold weather work for me, and they seem so fresh after living with Christmas greens and reds for a month.<\/h3>\n

I decided to pair our white Wedgewood Nantucket basket dinner plates with royal blue depression glass salad plates, clear wine glasses, and royal blue water goblets. \u00a0The utensils were our everyday stainless.<\/h3>\n

At first, I planned to place everything right on the table without place mats, chargers, or a table cloth, but the look seemed too uninviting.<\/h3>\n

I wanted to use white place mats, but I don’t own any. \u00a0So, I went to Plan B and pulled out some nice and crisp dinner napkins placed on the diagonal to use as place mats. \u00a0They worked perfectly.<\/h3>\n

The centerpiece was very simple – three lime green mums in a tiny silver holder and white candles in clear Alvaar Aalto candle holders.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

We kept it casual and ate in the kitchen. \u00a0With such a simple table setting, the food was the star.<\/h3>\n

The menu was really good and perfect for a winter evening. \u00a0While I finished up the cooking, we girls sipped skinny cosmopolitans, and the men sipped their bourbon. \u00a0The meal started off with a roasted squash salad (I’ll share photos and the recipe tomorrow), coq au vin, and a simple dessert of fresh fruit. \u00a0We finished the meal with a nice port and chocolates. \u00a0By the end, we were all feeling warm on the inside and outside.<\/h3>\n
