I can’t believe Thanksgiving is so close. \u00a0As I have said before, this is the first year Yankee and I are hosting, and we have 16 wonderful people joining us. \u00a0Some are starting to arrive on Monday, and everyone will be here by Wednesday evening. (Don’t worry – many are sleeping in hotels). \u00a0 Since we will have a full house for dinner on Wednesday, we decided to go casual, and since we can’t just load up everyone in the car and head to wine country<\/a>, we decided to do some New York wine tasting chez nous. \u00a0Dinner will be finger foods, and we are setting up a pizza<\/a> bar for everyone to assemble their own pizzas. \u00a0Then we’ll crank up the new oven<\/a> and bake away.<\/h3>\n

With Wednesday night being laid back, I wanted to have a casual table and start our own Thanksgiving tradition. \u00a0It is going to be a thankful table cloth<\/em> that can be used year after year.\u00a0First, I bought a drop cloth<\/a> and washed and dried it to make it ready.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 Then I ironed it, though I will need to do it again before it is used.<\/h3>\n

I used our dining room table as my craft table since it is so big. \u00a0I stretched the drop cloth<\/a> onto the table and found the center.<\/h3>\n

Since this will be our thankful table cloth, I decided to stencil<\/a> “Give Thanks.” \u00a0I had some stencils on hand from other projects and just used them. \u00a0I bought brown fabric paint<\/a>\u00a0to use as my paint color.<\/h3>\n

I left some space in the center so I could add a center piece. \u00a0Right now I’m using \u00a0a pitcher filled with wheat.<\/h3>\n

Next up will be the fun part. \u00a0I purchased some Sharpie permanent fabric markers<\/a>. \u00a0Each year we will bring out this table cloth and whoever is visiting our house for Thanksgiving will sign, date and write what they are thankful for that year.<\/h3>\n

Right now I have so much to be thankful for, but I am going to wait and write it down when everyone is at our house. \u00a0I am excited about this new Thanksgiving tradition. \u00a0It will be fun to pull out this table cloth that will become part of our family history for years to come.<\/h3>\n
