When we were first house hunting, we wanted a three\/two meaning three bedrooms and two baths. \u00a0Well, it turns out the houses we really liked \u00a0didn’t have two baths. \u00a0We were lucky enough to get one full bath and a half bath, and considering this house was built in 1928, we were thrilled. \u00a0We do know a family with three children once lived here for years so it can<\/span> be done. \u00a0Plus, that means there’s less to clean! \u00a0And remember, even though old houses are charming, they are known for having minimal storage space. \u00a0So, since we only have one full bathroom, and it is small, we need to be creative with storage in there.<\/h3>\n

Yankee\u00a0told me we had some wasted space above our bathroom door where a shelf could go. \u00a0I thought that was a great way to make use of some wasted space.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0Here is another view of it. \u00a0The door might not look straight, and that is one of the charms of an old house. \u00a0Our house has had some settling. \u00a0She is 80 plus years old, and I have a feeling I won’t be standing as straight as I am now when I become an octogenarian.<\/h3>\n

Since we were going to be making some changes in the bathroom anyway, I decided to change the color during the process. \u00a0It is oyster pearl by Clark and Kennsington from Ace, but we had Home Depot match it to their Behr paint. \u00a0We love it.<\/h3>\n

You can probably see from this photo that my husband attached a support board to the wall and then built a box to sit on top of it. \u00a0He then trimmed the exterior with straight boards that match the rest of the trim in our house, which is a craftsman style. This is before the nail holes were filled and caulking was done.<\/h3>\n

This is the after the shelf is finished but before we put it to use. \u00a0 I am loving the extra space.<\/h3>\n

The shelf is great for holding all of our extra towels.<\/h3>\n

So if you have a small bathroom or are \u00a0just looking for extra storage, this shelf might be for you. \u00a0I do have to give all credit to Yankee,\u00a0who built and painted and did the finishing touches. \u00a0I encouraged along the way, though.<\/h3>\n
