\u00a0We recently celebrated my husband&#8217;s birthday, and I decided to make homemade bread to go along with his birthday meal of shrimp and grits, arugula salad, and red velvet cake. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t really want to use my bread machine since I had some time to make bread the old fashioned way. \u00a0I dug into the recipe file I started as a newlywed and rediscovered a bread recipe that I got from one of my friends at my first teaching job.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2012\/11\/16\/great-homemade-bread\/img_3590\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13495\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13495\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/IMG_3590-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/IMG_3590-1024x681.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/IMG_3590-430x286.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>HOMEMADE BREAD<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>\u00a0&#8211; 5 cups flour<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>\u00a0&#8211; 1 1\/2 cups hot water (about 120 degrees)<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>\u00a0&#8211; 1 package yeast (2 teaspoons)<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>\u00a0&#8211; 1\/4 cup sugar<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>&#8211; 1 1\/2 tablespoons salt<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/2012\/11\/16\/great-homemade-bread\/img_3592\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13501\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13501\" src=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/IMG_3592-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"614\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/IMG_3592-1024x681.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/the2seasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/IMG_3592-430x286.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>DIRECTIONS<\/h3>\n<h3>Place flour in a large bowl and make a well in the middle. \u00a0Combine the other ingredients until all are dissolved and then pour them into the well. \u00a0Mix all together until they are completely combined. \u00a0Then knead for about 10 minutes. \u00a0Place in a greased bowl, cover, \u00a0and let rise till doubled in size. \u00a0Punch down and form into two loaves. \u00a0Put into two greased pans and let rise till double again.<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 &#8211; 30 minutes. \u00a0Rub the tops with butter when done. \u00a0Remove from pans and cool on a wire rack.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>It works well for sandwiches and French toast, too.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Take care and have a great week-end.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Friday!!!
