\u00a0When we turned the original breezeway of our townhouse into a mudroom (here<\/a>), we added some great window and doors. \u00a0We also added a heating\/air conditioning unit and ceiling fans so it would be comfortable in all seasons.<\/h3>\n

However, after living here for one summer, we decided the mudroom needed a screen door, too. \u00a0It would let us have fresh air from outside without inviting the birds to come in.<\/h3>\n

You can see how the reflections from the windows might be confusing to them.<\/h3>\n

This is a straight-on shot from the courtyard into the mudroom and the armoire where I keep all of my shoes. \u00a0We don’t wear outside shoes on the inside, so it’s easy to stop, sit, and slip on a pair of shoes before leaving. \u00a0But, hey, this post isn’t about shoes – \u00a0it’s about the new door screen.<\/h3>\n

We try to go to the annual homebuilders’ show each spring in a local arena, and Mr. Autumn spotted a retractable screen door being sold by one of the vendors. \u00a0It works just like a blind or shade that you hang on a window except for two things: \u00a0it is a screen and it rolls horizontally.<\/h3>\n

The company gives the option of letting them do the installation, and since we knew there might be trouble spots involved, we definitely knew to go with their offer.<\/h3>\n

It took about two hours for the installation from start to finish. \u00a0The nice thing about the screen is that it has a break-away option meaning if someone or something accidentally walks into it, it will not tear. \u00a0It just pulls away sort of like a zipper.<\/h3>\n

That option might come in handy when a certain Granddog<\/a> visits.<\/h3>\n

The latch is magnetized so we don’t have to deal with opening another door handle. \u00a0We love our new door and thought the price was reasonable. \u00a0We wanted to do business with a family-owned company, but these doors can be purchased at some of the big box stores, also.<\/h3>\n
