\u00a0Even though we have been living in our downtown townhouse for a little over a year now, I realized that I haven’t shared the front exterior with you. \u00a0You’ve had plenty of peaks inside the back courtyard, but the front has remained a mystery – until today, that is.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The townhouse is in an historic part of town, and so this Chippendale bench that sat beside the lake at our former house found the perfect home on the patio\/walkway in the front of our new place.<\/h3>\n

When we have company or when something big is happening in the park across the street (like the recent arts fair), I like to dress things up a bit.<\/h3>\n

I want the people who walk by to think, “Oh, that’s cute. \u00a0I would love to live in a place like this”. \u00a0Or, “Oh, that’s cute. \u00a0I wonder what it would be like to live there”. \u00a0And the last one – “Oh, that’s cute. \u00a0I wonder if the inside looks as good as the outside does”.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0I just gather up some pillows that are stowed away in the storage room, and display them oh so artfully on the bench. \u00a0Even pillows with stains work, because that stain won’t show up from the sidewalk. \u00a0It will only show up when I take a silly photo of it with the zoom at full speed on my camera. \u00a0And only then will it show up when I share it with the world. \u00a0Duh!!!<\/h3>\n

This area gets the morning sun making it a very cozy spot for the fern.<\/h3>\n

That’s the entryway to our place. \u00a0I love it.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

See, it’s not as small as you would think. \u00a0We have 3,000 square feet. \u00a0When I say that I live in a townhouse, I think most people expect it to be dark and teeny. \u00a0That is not the case at all with our place. \u00a0Almost everyone who visits is surprised by how large and how bright it is.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

We have certain restrictions that were written into the deed. \u00a0For instance, all of the hardware we use must be colonial in nature. \u00a0That was not a problem at all, but we did avoid brass and went with an antique and distressed nickel from Baldwin.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0The homeowners association (only six townhouses are here) hires professionals to keep up the front plantings – another advantage to living in a townhouse – but we keep evergreens in pots on our “stoop”. \u00a0When they die from lack of love or lace of water, we just replace them. \u00a0Well, that’s a little peak of our frontal view. \u00a0Hope you enjoyed it.<\/h3>\n
