When we stopped our Jon Carloftis home place garden tour yesterday (here<\/a>), I promised that you would see the house, carriage house, and guest house today. \u00a0Well, come on because as they say in the south, “time is wastin’.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

To get to the house from the shop, we walked through the carriage house. \u00a0Jon designed this garage to look like an old-fashioned carriage house, but this one is complete with mirrors and a chandelier. \u00a0The skies were overcast at this point, but later on, the rain came.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

It even protects this fabulous vintage car.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There are also two trojan-like horses in the carriage house.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

After all, this is<\/em> Kentucky, and we love our horses even when they are on wheels.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Right past the carriage house is the foot bridge.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

It is full of more rustic goodness.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

Jon started his career designing rooftop gardens in New York City. \u00a0He had no connections at first. \u00a0He earned his reputation through hard work and unusual and homey designs.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

He has designed for famous people like Bette Midler and Julianne Moore among others.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The little red dog house is tucked in beside the bridge.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

This is the main house on the property.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

The house has its share of sitting areas.<\/h3>\n

The brick path meanders through the property from the house to the fantastic guest cottage.<\/h3>\n

The guest house is tucked into a quiet area of the garden.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The guest house has a secret, and I am going to share it with you.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

It was once a one-room school house. \u00a0It was on another part of the property, and they moved it to its current location.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

Although I didn’t go inside, I did step onto the back porch where a vintage checkers game was set up.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

I have always wanted a sleeping porch, and this porch could transform into a perfect one. \u00a0The river is not too far away, and I’m sure it can be heard on a quiet country night. \u00a0How hypnotizing.<\/h3>\n

A twig fence encloses the guest house garden.<\/h3>\n
