Google’s adoption update is the topic of this blog post.
Hello, everyone. I have missed a couple of months, but I wanted to share Google’s adoption update with you today. We have hit the eight-month mark!! We finished our last visit with our social worker, and now we wait on paperwork from Thailand. Our social worker has been amazing, and she has been with us since before Little Miss came home. She has been so supportive and helpful during this process.
As I write this post I can say with confidence that Google is doing great. He had a lot of grief and emotions, and we have really worked through lots of those emotions. We have always shown him pictures of his foster mother and at first, he wouldn’t look at her and would get angry. Then after some time passed, he looked at the pictures and told me he was sad. Now he points to her, tells me her name, and has a big smile. He lost the only family he knew so he needed time and needed to go through the stages of grief.
I recently just ordered tons of photos to send to my children’s foster mothers. They did raise my children when they were babies. They were the ones to rock them to sleep and kiss them goodnight. The least I can do is send them photos with a letter update. (On a side note, we did go visit Little Miss’s foster mother when we were in Thailand, and she had all the pictures up in her room that I had mailed her from the beginning. She treasures the pictures, so I know it is important. Little Miss likes to include some artwork nowadays!)
Google’s personality is really coming out more, and he is happy. Don’t get me wrong…. we still have our fair share of tantrums, but overall he is happy. He laughs a lot. He loves the slapstick humor, and the smallest things make him laugh. He also tries to get you to laugh especially as a parent when you want to laugh but shouldn’t. He loves all things construction, cars, and firefighters! He is also my cuddler. He loves to get cozy especially if he watches a show. He will lie down and get comfortable. Little Miss sits tall and doesn’t move. He still comes to me and asks to be rocked like a baby. He will bring this weighted blanket which has done wonders. I’ll do that as long as he lets me. When I look down and see his big brown eyes, it really does make me feel I am rocking my son when he was a baby. I cherish those moments because I know before long he won’t want to be rocked like a baby.
Christmas was so fun this year, and Google really got into the music. He still is singing “Jingle Bell Rock.” We went to see Santa, and we all were shocked that he didn’t cry. We have an elf on the shelf, and he loved trying to find him each morning. It really is so fun to watch through the eyes of a child. Christmas morning was overwhelming, and he never even made it to opening his stocking. I put away a lot of his toys to bring out throughout the year because we could tell it was a lot for him.
Since I last wrote we took a trip to Florida, to Dollywood, and to Austin, Texas. He is just like his big sister and is becoming a great little traveler. He loves airplanes and gets so excited when we get to go on one. We also love to go to the overlook at the airport and watch the planes take off. We said we always wanted to show our kids the world, and we look forward to some longer trips in the future with him. Here is with his Jellycat that Little Miss gave to him when she met him. To this day I swear they are the best-stuffed animals. Little Miss has one, and it has been her almost constant companion.
It’s all coming together, and it is amazing how he fits right into our family. Little Miss tells me a couple of times a week she loves having a brother and how much she loves him. That right there melts this mamma’s heart. It was a long road to get here, but it feels good to have my family happy, healthy and all together and under one roof. We hope you enjoyed Google’s adoption update.

I love these updates, and can’t wait to see the face behind the Google!
He’s a cutie!!!!
I am so happy for your family. I have enjoyed reading & following your journey with little miss. I also enjoy reading your posts & your mom’s as well.
I should say I enjoyed the pictures. For some time I have been unable to read what you or your mom has written. Their is a (several) advertisements that pop up & stay on the side blocking your words. I understand making money from your blog, that is not the problem. I don’t mind the ads that have a “close x” & then I can continue reading. This side ad does not have have an close & if I click on it to view ad then x out of the ad it just comes back or another one appears. I so enjoy reading your blog, but I just can’t see all of the words. I would hate for you to lose followers because of this.
again, not upset with ads that will go away, this one ruins the entire post.
Carol, we are looking into the ad situation. Meanwhile, thank you for being a loyal reader.
I do love these updates. So happy to hear everything is going well. I am excited to see Google, too! 😉
Love him!!! You are such a good Mama.
So beautifully written…you can feel your mama’s love as you typed his story! So happy that you are all under one roof and enjoying life as a family of four!
