Happy Friday, everyone. Did you know that it’s National Tea Day on June 10? How did we come up with that one? Don’t get me wrong. I am totally addicted to my three cups a day, plus some iced tea in the hot months. That being said, we are reminding you of an oldie but goodie today……..sun tea. If you are from my generation, then you have probably made your share of sun tea, but have you made it lately? If you are from Jordan’s generation, then you might not know what the heck I am talking about.
You need just three things to make sun tea – well, four if you count the sun. You need a clear pitcher or jar, tea bags, and water. Put your tea bags in the jar (I use five per half gallon of water), fill it with water and cover it. Then set the jar in the sun in the morning. It will be tea by the afternoon. I brew my tea on the bar/planter in our courtyard which doesn’t get full sun until the afternoon. Add some ice, lemon, and sugar or sweetener, and you have yourself a tall and refreshing glass of sun tea. Now, doesn’t that sound delicious?
