Greetings everyone!! I have found the best and cheapest drawer and shelf liner to use in your homes. It even works great under sinks. It is…….drum roll, please,…..vinyl flooring. That’s right. I bought a full 6 x 9 piece of vinyl flooring at a big box store for only $5.00. It’s a much better liner option than spending a boat load of money on regular drawer liners.
The other day I spilled some baby oil in my bathroom cabinet and realized that I never lined that shelf despite the fact that we have lived here almost four years. In all of our past houses, I always used vinyl flooring to line the drawers and shelves. It is nice and thick, easy to cut, durable, and a great price.
You can usually buy a remnant in a home improvement store left over from the end of a bolt for just a few dollars. I was able to buy a 6 x 9 feet piece for only $5.00. And the fact that it matches our hardwood floors is a bonus. Just think how much this much shelf liner would cost!!!
Although at first the big piece is a little bit bulky, it is easy to work with. Since the area under our sink has a few pipes that required me to make some additional cuts, I just traced an outline on the back of the vinyl and cut it with my kitchen sheers.
Then I just flipped it over and put it under the sink. And by the way, our floors are a nice medium brown finish. For some reason they always show up as yellow in photos.
I even put two small pieces on a two-tiered shelf that holds items under the sink. That addition will prevent drips from wet sponges, scrubbers, etc.
After the sink area was finished, I moved on to the kitchen drawers which are very wide. I managed to have enough vinyl to line nine drawers and even several shelves in our master bath. And get this – I still have more remaining. There’s enough, in fact, to line the under sink areas in our three guest baths.
Be sure to “Pin” this idea, and the next time you are in a home improvement store, buy some flooring for your shelves and drawers.
