Greetings, everyone! If you think it has been forever since I shared one of my completed paintings with you…..well, it has. I just finished up my latest project last week, and I have been working on it for months. Because of our travels, I don’t always make it to my weekly oil painting class. So, I’m going to whisper that it has taken me since January to paint this baby. But, alas, it is finished, and I’m feeling proud.
This is called “On the Way to Bordeaux”. When we were on a bicycling trip last year in France, we stopped by a sculpture garden in the middle of nowhere. The sculptor had been taught by Rodin, and his work was quite special.
This was a small building on the property, and I liked its looks. However, I thought the door was a little drab.
So, the door in my painting was inspired by this set of shutters on a house in Giverny where Claude Monet’s home is located. And those two photos, folks, were my muses.
Here they are side by side, but Picmonkey is cropping a little section of each one of them. I’ve already begun another painting. It is one in a series of four. I’ll share them all when they are finished. If you would like to check out some of my other painting, this post has links to them.
Janette….what a beautiful painting! You did a great job and I love the colour substitution for the door.
