I love color and I want to try to add some bright color to my house for summer. We do not always have sunny days here in Syracuse so any color I can add helps on the not so sunny days. I found this table runner from Country Living magazine and thought, “Hey that looks easy and fun for our table”.
Here is our dining room table. We do not have an eat in kitchen so all of our meals are at this table, formal or not. We purchased this a couple years ago from Ikea in the scratch and dent area for $50. We couldn’t find anything wrong with it excect the box had been opened. At first I was not a fan of this table. I thought it was too big for the loft we were living in down in Atlanta. However, it has grown on me. Because the table is so long, I rarely have runners on it. So I decided to make one. Enter the Country Living inspiration.
I purchased five bandanas from Hobby Lobby for 99 cents. They had a huge selection, and I decided to go with bright summer colors.
Basically, I just sewed the ends together, piece by piece. I have a sewing machine but can only do a straight line. Or at least I attempt to do a straight line, so this was my type of sewing. My grandmother did teach me to always iron the seams as you go along, which I did.
After I sewed all of the bandanas together, I went back to iron again, and this time I used starch. It helped give it a crisper look.
And voila!!! Here is the quick and easy summer table runner. Even our Tiffany bowl looks great on it.
Now I can’t wait to add some dishes, get some fresh flowers and have a colorful tablescape!
Oh this is such a cute idea and it tuned out looking so great!
That is so darling! It is fun and festive and perfect for summer! 🙂

This is a terrific idea. I can just see it with red and blue bandannas for a 4th of July picnic. Would love it if you would link up to our All Star Block Party blog hop. Link on one blog and been seen on 4 others too!

Love the runner and I was just thinking what lovely pillows they’d make, too. Thanks for sharing. I’m with the party (#32). Best wishes in your new home.

I love that runner….such a cute idea…especially for summer gatherings!….
Have a wonderful day!
Fun and functional. For my daughter’s rehearsal dinner, a BBQ, we used bandanas as napkins.
Good for those messy moments…..
awesome! what a great idea. I just cleaned out my kids playroom and found several old, colorful bandanas …. hmm… perhaps a good way to put them to use!
This is so fun, Jordan! An easy-peasy endeavor with a big impact.
