Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. We were busy here with our projects in Syracuse, and guess what! It finally snowed! It was our first real snow of the season, so, we had to take some breaks from working inside and go enjoy it.
After emptying the cabinets, removing the doors, sanding and deglossing, I have finally started to prime the kitchen cabinets. I have to say sanding took a lot longer than I expected, and the dust……It was u.n.b.e.l.i.e.v.a.b.l.e. I used a power sander and did all the cabinet doors and drawers in the basement, but I still have dust everywhere. I was not that excited to sand in the kitchen in the first place. The power sander even has a bag attached to collect the dust, but that only helps so much. On a good note, that step is now behind me. Plus, the primed doors/cabinets give me a teeny little preview of what the finished project will look like. At least, I am not looking at the yellowish wooden cabinets anymore.
I set the doors in various rooms in the house to dry after being primed. I even used our new kitchen furniture for a few.
Precious Gracie has been sitting and watching my every move in the kitchen. This is her calm, “I’m a perfect angel” pose.
I even have the drawers set up in our study to dry before I give them a coat of paint.
I took some time to play with Gracie in the snow. This was her first time to play in the white stuff, and she loved it. It did take her a lot longer to find her ball when we were playing catch.
Eventually, she found it. It looks as if she has a giant snowball in her mouth, don’t ya think???
Great post and good to see the progress. Let me borrow Gracie for awhile.
Wow I am always amazed at how much you do yourself on these big projects! You get in there and tackle things like sanding and even using a wet saw on your patio project! I think HGTV needs to give you and your mom your own show!! I am really looking forward to seeing your kitchen when your cabinets are done.
Looks like Gracie is having all the fun, but once the kitchen is done, know you all will be pleased and she’ll have a new, wonderful place to eat!
This is going to look great. Painting cabinets is such a HUGE project, but the results are definitely worth the effort. Keep up the great work!
I thought Gracie did have a snowball! LOL. I know you’re excited for your Mom’s visit and the white cabinets! It’s going to look great. Have fun with your Mom.
Debbie
You continue to amaze me by taking on these projects. I can’t wait to see the end result.
