Bench Pressing

Author:  Autumn (Janette)

While most of Blogland is knee deep into Christmas decorating, I have vowed to hold off at least another week.  So, I will be offering up non-holiday posts like today’s entry about a bench I renewed.

I bought this little Queen Anne bench, sight unseen, from a local auction house a few weeks ago.  I spotted it on their website and made a bid over the phone.  Luckily, the next day I received a call telling me I had won it.

I followed the usual drill of disassembling it and ripping off a few layers of fabric.

Then I recovered the seat with this great blue linen upholstery fabric I found at a local fabric shop.  The bench will go in our master bedroom, and the blue is the same color as the adjacent master bath.

I painted the bench with antique white chalk paint.

I then roughed it up with sand paper……….

and applied wax.

This is the final product.  I think it is a pretty good before and after.

Take care.

Great job Janette! I love the new fabric and color.

I’m putting off decorating until next week when my daughter gets home from college. She loves doing it, so I’m happy to wait!

    Have a great day.

Wow, I love your bench! What a fantastic job you did. Love the fabric and the black showing through. I bought a sofa table at a yard sale for $20 that I want to paint with chalk paint so bad. There’s only one place to buy it here. It’s 45-60 min. away. Hopefully I get up there soon. Love the look!

    Hi Janette
You did a great makeover on the bench, I like the fabric that you used.
Thanks for stopping by yesterday and bringing me up to date on your cycling trip through France, shame about the dog bite!
