End the Last-Minute Meal Rush

Author:  Spring (Jordan)

Our entire family is at my parents’ house for Thanksgiving.  There will be 10 of us, and my mother came up with a solution to end the last minute, frantic rush and asked me to share it with you.

She made a list of little jobs that need to be done at the last minute.  She puts them in a box and asks each person to take one.  Everyone enjoys this because they like to help out but aren’t always sure what to do.  This makes it easier for my mother, too.

All of you graphic designers out there could customize them on the computer, but Mom takes the old-fashioned route on this.

Her to-do list is this:

1.  Put ice and water in the glasses.

2.  Open the wine.

3.  Help put food on table.

4.  Say grace.

5.  Take dessert orders and serve.

6.  Cut and plate dessert.

7.  Help clear table before dessert.

8.  Take coffee/tea orders and serve.

9.  Help clear table after dessert.

You can customize it to fit your needs.

Great idea! Our celebration is small since family all live far away but I can see that this would help tremendously and let everyone enjoy the day more!

I’m taking some of these to my sister’s house to pass out. I’m always the one that gets ALL of these tasks to do at the last minute!! (Except saying grace!) Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there in blogland!!
